Excerpt from The Life and Public Services of James LoganThe subject for this dissertation was suggested to me by Professor Herbert L. Osgood, under whose direction I began to work in 1917. After Professor Osgood's death, Professor William R. Shepherd consented to take charge of my work. I wish to thank him for reading the manuscript and making many valuable suggestions. I wish also to express my appreciation of the courtesy of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania for free access to their manuscript collection from which most of my materials were drawn. It has been my endeavor to present from the manuscripts and such printed matter as was available, a study of James Logan, a hitherto rather neglected, albeit extremely important figure in provincial Pennsylvania. I have tried to touch upon the various phases of his services to the colony, and at the same time picture him as a decidedly interesting member of society.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
