The Myth of Real Work

Angebote / Angebote:

Excerpt from The Myth of Real Work: A Case Study of Engineers Preferences and Their Job RequirementsIn ever)i occupation there are a subset of activities that are deemed the real work of the job, despite the variety of tasks required to actually do that job. Field research and Q-sorts conducted at one organization substantiated that engineers share a common definition of real engineering. However, the research further indicated that engineers do not spend most of their time doing real engineering, engineers do not all prefer to do real engineering, and the job of the engineer requires engineers to do more than just real engineering. This paper concludes that it is a myth that the subset of activities labeled real engineering are the most important part of the job of the engineer. However, it is suggested that engineers perpetuate this myth because of the status associated with real engineering as opposed to the rest of the job.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
