In addition to the correspondence of Sir Edward Nicholas (ob. Secretary of State, it includes that of his son, Sir John Nicholas (ob. Clerk to the Privy Council, and of his grandson, Edward Nicholas (ob. Treasurer to Queen Mary and it was formerly preserved at the family seat of West Horsley, co. Surrey, purchased by Sir Edward from Carew Raleigh in 1665. After the death of Sir John Nicholas each of his three sons, Edward, John, and William inherited the estate in turn, and the youngest, dying unmarried in 1749, devised it to Henry Weston, of Ockham, whose descendants have enjoyed it ever since.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
