That they, being the acknowledged sons of a Methodist preacher, were in nowise worse than other youths of their own ages, circumstances and previous conditions of latitude.
Furthermore, they solemnly affirm on oath that, to the best of their knowledge and belief, they were very much better than most of the boys of their acquaintance who had not the distinguished honor of being born of Methodistic and ministerial lineage.
