They were not prepared with reference to publication and do not seem to me to possess a merit which entitles them to a formal presentation to the pub lic. But I have felt that I ought not to refuse to place them in the hands Of the Sunday-school Board Of the Southern Baptist Convention. It was through its generous provision the arrange ment for their delivery was made and it has hon ored_ me with an earnest request for the manu scripts, insisting that their plea for higher pas toral efficiency in the Sunday - school will be Of value to the young/ministers Of our country.
