Excerpt from The Popol Vuh: The Mythic and Heroic Sagas of the Kiches of Central AmericaScherzer at once made a copy of the Spanish translation of the manuscript, which he published at Viennain 1856 under the title of Las Historias del origen do laa ladies do Guatemala, par cl R. P. Francisco Kimonos. The Abbe llrasseur also took a copy of the original, whieh he published at Paris in 1861, with the title Vah l'opol: Le Livre Sacre de Quiches, et lcs Mythes do l'anti quite Américaine. In this work the Kiché original and the Abhé's French translation are set forth side by side.
