Excerpt from The Poultry and Egg Situation, Vol. 82: October, 1943In mid - October wholesale prices of standards at Chicago were 11 per cent higher than prices a year ago for fresh firsts, a grade fairly comparable to the present series for standards. Prices a year ago were under the control of temporary ceilings which were in effect from October 5, 19h2, until March of this year. The average retail price for strictly fresh eggs in 51 cities of the United States in mid - August wes cents per dozen compared with cents a year earlier.
