Excerpt from The Recovery of Volatile SolventsThe recovery of volatile solvents does not involve any new prin ciples with which the skilled chemical engineer is unfamiliar, and anyone well trained along chemical engineering lines will find that a considerable portion of this book, at the start at least, consists of the most elementary principles of chemical engineering. But in a book of this sort it is impossible to take anything for granted concerning the technical training of the reader, without diminishing the value of the book to a very large number and restricting its field to those who do not need it. The author believes that the average engineer to whom this book Will appeal has had a good engineering training in non chemical lines, and that it is necessary to lead up to the subject in the manner in which he has done it. In his experience as a salesman of chemical engineering equipment, largely to engineers of the nonchemi cal type, he has frequently found it necessary to give the prospective customers a fairly complete course in the special type of chemical engineering principles which are used in solvent recovery work, and he has found by experience that the method of presentation used in this book is most advantageous. It has therefore been the object of the author to present in as simple and complete form as possible, the fundamental principles in volved in solvent recovery, illustrating them with frequent examples, to discuss the various factors entering into the design of solvent recovery equipment, and to give descriptions of the standard forms of apparatus used in the more common cases.About the PublisherForgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
