What if in the near future a thousand people worldwide spontaneously developed the ability to see the future? What if they began crashing financial markets, winning lotteries, bankrupting casinos? What if the governments of the World blamed the phenomenon on each other? Claiming cyber attacks? And the result - worldwide nuclear war! Then three hundred years later .....Rion of the Free State - a young warrior living in a Post-Apocalyptic world three hundred years in the future - has a recurring nightmare. A Psychic being known only to him as Snake appears and threatens to devour him. One morning, she speaks to him in his nightmare of her premonition of an impending attack by the Morifati, the enemy tribe that lives on the other side of the Forbidden Land, a radioactive zone. Rion wakes up that morning to find out her premonition was real. Now Rion has to stop this invasion of the Free State by crossing the Forbidden Land and preventing the invasion from beginning, guided along the way by Wolf, another Psychic being sent to him by Snake. But how can he stop the Morifati on his own? How can he gain the Psychic power known as the Sight? A power Snake claims he will learn along the way? And only after he allows the Morifati to capture him?This work is an homage to Classic Science Fiction stories such as Brain Wave by Poul Anderson and Rebirth by John Wyndham.
