For its preparation, he has no apology to make. The work was undertaken at the suggestion of a few remaining friends and pioneers of the place, and, although attended with considerable labor, it has been a pleasant diversion. It is dedicated to the entertainment and use of the descendants of those early day settlers, as well as to others who are interested in reminiscences of the beginnings of the New England Colony of Iowa.
