He trufis that his fentiments are unprejudiced, and wifhes to refpeé'c all who may differ from him on confcientious motives. The cenfures which may be found in thefe Difcourfes are not de figned for any particular denomination of Chriftians, they apply only to the prefump tucus and felf-fufficient, to whatever commu nion they may belong. While he laments the exifience of fchifm, he is the friend of uni verfal toleration and while he condemns the arrogance of the illiterate, he cannot but re fpeét talents and knowledge, wherever they may be found.
