They are' made in the following manner: in the midi'r of a thick wood the people build a {tone tower thirty or forty feet high, capable of containing fifty or fixty perfons. This tower is the place of'firength, where they ¿int up all the riches of thewlord, and ofthofe who put themfelves under his protection. Near this tower are five or fix others 'of wood, which ferve for magazines of provifions, and as places of retreat for their wives and children, in cafe of an attack.
