The year is 2041. Overpopulation, greed, wars, and the destruction of natural resources has finally cracked the overextended financial world. Trade wars crippled international commerce. Corporations crumbled. Governments collapsed. Energy, the great heart of civilization, stopped beating. One after another, power generation stations dropped off line. City by city, nation by nation, they winked out. Homes, businesses, and continents have gone black. Except for a few islands of light, the world is in darkness. One of those islands lies in the northwestern United States. Another, much tinier island, twinkles from the White House, in Washington, DC. There, a small group of dreamers works feverishly to implement a plan to keep the electrical grid functioning in the west and preserve their nation. It is a far-reaching plan that came into being four years earlier. It is an audacious plan that will prove to be controversial, desperate, and vicious. While some watch helplessly as their loved ones perish, and resign themselves to their fate, others refuse to surrender. Against all odds, they struggle for clean water and a piece of bread. Confronting disease, starvation, and their fellowman, they fight to stay alive. Whether their dream is survival, triumph over opposition, or the birth of a new nation they are dreamers-Tomorrow's Dreamers.
