Father and son start a farm in the Chilean wilderness. The Cordners decide to move from Dublin, Ireland, to Argentina at the turn of the century and make good with effort and imagination. Andrew from Chile marries Winifred in Argentina. What should have been a marriage made in heaven isn't. Winifred flees to Rhodesia to join her father and sister. The story is focused on the exploits of her twin sons, one of whom heads the next generation with character. His family of four produces two sets of grandchildren.
