Transparencies is a marriage of my interest in nature photography and poetry. Before digital photography came into being, I used slide film most of the time. Each slide was a transparent image of one moment in a season of possibilities. The same can be said of a haiku poem. Both are innately succinct.
Born, educated and still living in Pittsburgh, I left the University of Pittsburgh with a creative pen in hand only to find work in an office at U.S. Steel. I met my future wife in that same building working for a law firm. After thirteen years, a strike/lockout/ lay-off and a few part-time jobs later, I ended up at a Gulf Oil terminal. So, I have been on both sides of the work force, white collar and blue collar. Twenty-two years later, I decided it was time to fulfill my goals. I am pushing forward to publish my work which has been most of my adult life in the making. By the way, we're still married thirty years later.
