The inspiration for this book came when the COVID-19 pandemic shone a light on the volume, proactivity and resourcefulness of initiatives emerging from unexpected places. The authors witnessed actions which contrasted with the responses from many in formal leadership positions, including those in government and leading corporations, and were inspired to explore them more fully and beyond the pandemic.
