The long Poem, and many of the shorter pieces, were written more than thirty years ago, when our wedded life was young, and when she was my guide and my inspirer. They were, however, laid aside at. The time, and became in a sense forgotten, but her unexpected death has brought me many sad and solitary hours, and my thoughts have wandered back to those memorials of a vanished Past.
