Excerpt from Water Supply Outlook for Washington and Federal-State-Private Cooperative Snow Surveys: As of Apr. 1, 1979Snow packs measured near the first of April range from a high of 6 percent above normal for the Mill Creek Drainage to a low of 77 percent below normal for the Klickitat Drainage. The storm. Patterns of the last week added considerable amounts. Of snow to the mountain watersheds but not nearly enough to overcome the deficit experienced throughout the rest of the month. The high temperatures of March depleted the snow pack at the lower elevations and decreased it quite markedly in the upper reaches. Under normal conditions, maximum snow water _equivalents occur on April 1, but this year, many maximums occurred March 1. The only rosy spot is in the Blue Mountains of Northeastern Oregon and Southeastern Washington.
