Mary Griffin witnesses a crime syndicate assassination, and in her haste to escape, Mary accidentally gains possession of a little black book which contains numbered bank accounts, passwords, and notes on criminal activities of the syndicate.
Unable to find Mary, or the black book, the assassins kidnap Mary's three-year-old daughter, hold her hostage, change her name and have her raised with one of the mobster's family.
Realizing that her life and the life of her daughter are at stake, Mary remains in hiding while searching for her daughter.
In the years that follow Mary searches for her daughter while the assassins desperately seek to find Mary and the black book.
