Youths Trapped in Prejudice

Angebote / Angebote:

Luca Váradi aims to understand the formation of the Hungarian teenagers’ attitudes towards the Roma, as adolescence is a crucial period in identity development. Her objective is to determine to what extent the classical and more recent theories on the formation of prejudice can be applied in a context in which there is no public consensus of respect towards minorities. The author lets the teenagers express their own views to see their world through their eyes, allowing the reader to understand what being prejudiced or tolerant means to these adolescents. ContentsThe formation of Prejudice in Adolescence: Teenagers on the Crossroads of AttitudesLiving in Poverty, Facing Segregation – Everyday Experiences of the Roma in HungaryA Society Trapped in Prejudice – the Case of HungaryThe Present Study: Attitudes towards the Roma among Hungarian TeenagersTarget GroupsAcademics, researchers, and students in the fields of sociology, social psychology, psychology, social work, education science, Romani studies, European studies, political education, minority studies, nationalism studiesSocial workers, political decision makers (EU), activists (against racism and xenophobia), teachers, parentsThe AuthorLuca Váradi is a Hungarian sociologist.
